Teamspeak: All players must be on Team Speak prior to and during the race.
Teamspeak is a valuable tool for communication on and off the track. Furthermore, a great tool for building relationships by chatting with other members. However, there are many different personalities and feelings among our members. Be considerate of your fellow members while on Teamspeak. More on teamspeak in the On Track/Racing Specific rules.
Server Issues: If the server dumps or experiences problems which interfere with the race prior to halfway, then the race will be restarted if feasible or postponed until the series administrators choose a race date to fit it in whenever possible. If server failure occurs after 75% of the race is complete, then it will be considered an official race.
Connection Issues: High Speed Internet connection is REQUIRED. **Please note that not all high speed connections will be accepted. You may be required to test your ping to our servers prior to becoming a member. Our server latency is set no higher than 500ms. This is to ensure the action on the track remains stable. You will be required to hold a ping of less than 200ms at all times. 95% of the league pings our server at 111 or lower. Your quality is also a concern. Even if your ping is excellent, your quality must be as well. It is better to have good quality and high ping than low ping and bad quality. Again, this is at the discretion of Nastrack administration.
System Maintenance: All members must agree to keep their individual systems optimized by being on fresh boots at race time, defragging regularly, and closing all background programs including virus scanners etc. This optimizes the connection for all members when racing on line. Some of us use and recommend a program called EndItAll.
Minimum Ping: All drivers are required to have cable or DSL connections. This keeps the ping low and allows for tighter racing and larger fields. Admin will inform drivers of poor connection quality. Drivers with high pings or low quality are expected to race accordingly by falling to the back of the field or by following any instructions given to them by Admin. If Admin asks you to park your car due to your connection, you must do so and retire from the race.
On-Track/ Racing Specific Rules: Race Day/Time: The NASTRACK NEXTEL Cup series races will be run on Friday evenings. Pre-Race practice session will begin at 9 pm est/8 pm cst and will last one hour. Qualifying will begin promptly at 10 pm est/9 pm cst with the race beginning at 10:15 pm est/ 9:15 pm cst. We will honor a 5 minute extension to delay race qualifying if requested by any driver. There will be a full 10-minute warm-up period after qualifying.
Race Day Server Settings: For the 2009 NEXTEL Cup season, Points System: The points system will be the same as used by the Nextel Cup Series.
Chase for the Championship: The NEXTEL Cup series will utilize the Chase for the Championship format customized with a twist to be announced later.
Substitutes: If a driver cannot make a race. Subs are allowed and must follow the rules as listed. We would like subs to be reported to the administration 24 hours prior to the scheduled event. Should an emergency arise and 24 hours is not an option, exceptions can be made. Administration reserves the right to deny a sub selected to run if we have had a previous bad experience with that driver and deem that it would cause a negative race for our other members.
Provisional Starts/Points: Provisional points will be given to any driver who must miss a race and posts within 12 hours before the start of the race, unless extreme circumstances are brought to an admins attention. All provisional starts will equal last place points. (each driver is allowed 3 provisional races per season).
Practicing: Practice is very important and we encourage each of you to participate. This is usually the only time you will get to run with each other prior to doing it during an actual race. Learning fellow members driving styles and being able to be competitive will aid in having a successful race. While fun is the #1 reason for us all to be here, our drivers take their racing very serious and many drivers value the practice time. Please try to be there for a few practice sessions if you can for your series. The Nastrack servers are up and running for practice purposes 24/7 in most instances.
Pre-Race Practice Session: This is the last opportunity drivers will have to make final adjustments to their cars in preparing for the official race. Please refrain from any horseplay on this night to allow those who are making laps and finding those final adjustments needed before race time. We all love to 'vent our frustrations' and have a little fun wrecking each other from time to time... During the week in practice sessions is the time for this, not race night.
Qualifying: During Qualifying, be courteous to your fellow members by refraining from any conversation so everyone can concentrate on their 2 laps and focus on achieving the best starting position that they are able. If a driver is late and misses qualifying, they may join in Happy Hour and will have to start in the rear of the field.
Happy Hour: Once qualifying is complete, Happy Hour will last approximately 10 minutes to allow late entries to enter the server and give all drivers a chance to take a quick break for any necessities they may need to tend to before the race begins. Please use this time to familiarize yourself with pit road and ensure that your quick chat keys and settings are correct.
Starts/Restarts and Pace Laps: Before going to race session, an administrator will ask all drivers to go out on the track to ensure that everyone is present and ready. Whether it is during the warm-up laps or under yellow flag conditions, be sure to keep pace laps at a constant speed (determined before each race) and try not to get less than 1 car length within the car ahead. At the same time, try to leave no more than 2 or 3 car lengths behind the car in front of you. Be smooth...Speeding up then abruptly slowing down causes havoc for the entire pace line. Coming to take the restart, admins will call for drivers to tighten up the field. If you are damaged or off the pace, move to the inside and allow the cars behind you to pass high on the restart. Once in position and ready to go green, one of the admins will call the green at approximately the same location at which the initial green flag was dropped at the start of the race. NO JUMPING THE START/RESTARTS! Jumping the start means that you accelerate before the green flag is waived to gain a position or an advantage. Drivers jumping any start/restart will receive a strict penalty as determined by admin.
Restart Rule: We will only restart the race session before the green flag is taken, once the green flag is taken. There will be no restarts after 1 clean lap is in the books. The only reason we would restart is if 3 or more drivers get disconnected before the race starts or decided upon by all admins and race leader/pole winner.
Yellow Flags/Red Flags: Nastrack utilizes Admin called yellow/red flags. Admins may call a yellow/red flag for special on track conditions. Otherwise, ONLY drivers involved MUST call yellow if they are wrecking or is involved in the wreck. Once yellow is called it must be honored. *Definition of a wreck: Driver who has lost control of their car and/or presents a danger to oncoming traffic on the track. A driver SHOULD NOT call a yellow flag if they are the only car involved and they are in no way endangering the safety of other drivers on the track. Drivers not abiding by this rule are subject to penalties handed down by the administrators if deemed necessary.
Black Flags/Penalties: Drivers will have 3 laps to serve a black flag penalty, otherwise you will DQ’ed by the game. If your penalty is given for speeding on pit road under yellow, you will be allowed to serve the penalty under yellow, however you will be required to fall to the tail end of the longest line for the restart. If you are assessed a penalty under green flag conditions, you will have to pull down pit road for a pass thru as instructed by the game. Not following these instructions will result in a game-issued DQ or possible post-race penalty handed down by the administrators.
Pitting: Pit instructions will be reviewed prior to the start of each race so there are no confusions. Violation of pit instructions for an event can result in point penalties. During green flag or yellow flag pit stops, all drivers are expected to execute their stop safely with respect to other drivers entering pit road, entering pit stalls as well as leaving pit stalls. Under normal yellow flag conditions, the pits will be open for (1) or (2) laps as announced by admins. The first round of pit stops will be open to lead lap cars ONLY. The second round of stops will be open to ALL cars.
Lucky Dog Rule:The Lucky Dog Rule will be awarded to the first car that is one or more laps down. If the car that is eligible to get the lucky dog is the cause of the yellow flag or is involved in a wreck, then no one will receive the lucky dog for that caution period. Additionally, there will be no Lucky Dog if a restart occurs with less than 10 laps remaining in the race.
Lapped Car Responsibilities: Lap Cars are encouraged to stay high and yield to the leader to the inside lanes. If you are 1 or more laps down to the race leaders, you must race accordingly. The lapped car bares the added responsibility to race clean when racing a lead lap car. In the case that there is a restart with less than 10 laps remaining, lapped cars will fall in behind the leaders in a single-file line. This allows the lead lap cars to start single file in front of the lapped cars and race for the win. Wrecks (Those involved): If you are involved in a wreck and you caused it (It happens in racing) please say so! (example: Sorry, My Bad). An earnest apology goes along way to prevent hard feelings. If conditions warrant and a caution is necessary, the ONLY persons that should be calling the yellow are those directly involved in the incident. Or an admin. (see Yellow Flags section) If a yellow is called those who were involved, once they get straightened out and back up to pace speed, they should fall back in line with the field. (Those not involved): If you are racing and a yellow flag is called, you should gradually slow your car and fall into line behind the leader as he will assume the determined pace speed for the race. Unless the incident is happening right in front of you, DO NOT slam on your brakes or keep you pedal to the floor to catch the leaders. Slow gradually to a reasonable speed and catch up with the leaders. There is no reason one wreck should turn into two (or more).
Running out of Fuel: If you are going to run out of gas while under caution pace lap and the pits are still closed, notify admins of your need for fuel. Only then, will you be allowed to pit as necessary for fuel. However you must restart at the end of the longest line following normal pit procedures. Yellow Line Rule: At Daytona and Talladega there is no passing allowed below the yellow line to advance a position. If you go under the yellow line for safety reasons make sure it is safe before reentering the racing groove and return to your previous position. If you pass below the yellow line you will get -2 lap penalty and a provisional start the following race week.
Driver Disconnections: In case of disconnection during race, the affected driver will be required to notify an admin as to their position and laps led within 24 hours or receive last place points. Multiple provisional points are given out according to current point standings. The higher driver in points receives the higher provisional points.
Flagrant Foul Rule or Gross Negligence: Any driver that appears to take out a fellow competitor on purpose (as determined by race admin) will be given last place points for that race and suspended for the next race. Upon review by admins that driver may be removed from that series.
Final Standings: It is impossible to list every conceivable connection issue that may arise. With that said, the standings that the game posts at the end of the race are -official, pending any imposed penalties. This means that if you were leading the race and would have won, but you lost your connection, we will not fix the finishing order to make up for that. In the world of online racing, we all live and die by the connection. The finishing order will only be modified if a penalty is handed out by admin and the enforcement of that penalty causes a change in the finishing order.
*Important* All racers who wish to leave the server before the race is completed and want correct points for the race you MUST type into chat what lap you completed last and if any, # of laps lead . Use your final results screen to determine your specific results. Let faster drivers through: This is a gentlemen’s agreement more than a rule, the same as it is in NEXTEL Cup. If you are losing time to the car/truck in front of you and have a car/truck working to pass you, PLEASE LET HIM GO! Get behind him and follow. Manage your race and the risks you take during the race. Remember, it is better to finish one position behind the guy you are racing than to not finish at all.
*** This does not apply inside 10 laps to go. All drivers have the right to protect their position when the race is on the line. *** Chatting during racing/cautions: During races, Teamspeak is a vital communication tool. Chatting during the race should be held to a minimum. Under yellow flag conditions, keep chats to a minimum to prevent cars from running into other cars while pacing. NO flaming! ! If you have a problem with another driver, keep quiet and talk about it after the race. We are all adults and should conduct ourselves in a professional manner. Disputes/Complaints: Any disputes and/or complaints will be viewed via replay and judged by neither parties involved. All replays must be submitted by the person who is making the complaint. Be sure to save your replays! A committee of members not involved in the incident will review the replay and submitted their findings to the admins. All arguments on racing incidents will be brought to an admins’ attention AFTER the race. If person argues on TS, then that driver will be talked to and actions will be taken by admins. In case of complaints on another driver for wild driving, then that person will be asked by and admin to either move to the back of the longest line or they might be asked to park their car. All admins will review the race replay the day after the race. At which time, drivers and their actions will be reviewed if necessary. [ LeagueMain Page : Rules : |
